This video explains the origins of purposeful communication by tracing it to military history, specifically the shift from centralized, detailed command to decentralized mission command during and after the Napoleonic Wars. As armies grew larger, more dispersed, and more complex, leaders could no longer micromanage actions on the battlefield. Speed, flexibility, and independent decision-making became decisive advantages.
