NOTE: This module draws from my earlier work under Black Market Leadership. The ideas here predate Chaos Studies in Leadership and form the foundation that made this work possible.

This video outlines the three core takeaways of the Basic Communication module. First, it establishes the foundational truth that words have meaning, and that leaders must be deliberate and precise in how they use language. Second, it highlights the critical role of definitions—when done correctly, they create clarity, alignment, and focus, especially in uncertainty and the fog of war. Third, it introduces the three basics of communication: precision, concision, and context. Mastery of these elements significantly increases the likelihood that ideas are understood, retained, and acted upon as intended.
