This segment explains why leadership is necessary in the first place. Strategy is never executed as planned—reality introduces change, friction, and chaos that create a gap between expectations and outcomes. Leadership exists to close that gap. Leaders enable teams to adapt, improvise, and stay aligned to the mission when conditions change, plans break down, and uncertainty sets in. The real return on leadership is the ability to adjust strategy in real time, keep people aligned and motivated, and move the organization forward despite chaos.
